Bangladesh Dental College was established in 1996 by a group of dedicated people who are the founder members of this institule. They were imbued with the ideals of providing quality medical & dental education, research and services to people of this country at a reasonable cost. The College and the Hospital are run by Bangladesh Medical Studies and Research Institute (BMSRI) which is a non political and non profitable organization. The members of the Institute are not entitled to any remuneration or dividends.

The objectives of the Institute are

1. To promote and provide studies in dental science leading to recognized graduate and postgraduate degrees
2. To conduct research work on the oral health diseases prevalent in the country.
3. To conduct research on dental health education with the aim of raising the standard of dental education in the country.
4. To provide skilled manpower in the field of dentistry.
5. To provide quality dental care to the community at reasonable cost

The establishment of a Dental College importing dental education leading to recognized dental degree was taken as the first and foremost aim of the Institute. Through the tireless efforts of the Foygder Members the dream was realized against much opposition when permission was alorded by the Government of the People’s Republic of Bangladesh for the creation of the College.

Bangladesh Dental College started functioning from June 1998. The Dhaka University granted affiliation to the College in February 1997. Bongladesh Medical and Dental Council has recognised the College in the first batch of students from the College appeared in the Ist Professional BDS Exomination of the University of Dhaka held in June 1998.

The attached Hospital has a indoor and outdoor dental facilities and provides excellent training to students and intern doctors. The Hospital has arrangements for 52 inpatients where 52 general beds and cabins are exclusively provided for Bangladesh Dental College as its hospital. It is well equipped and provides quality health care to the public at reasonable cost. The dedicated qualified doctors and others staff are providing excellent services.
