About The Chairman

Professor Dr. Md. Abdur Rashid

Ph.D., FAS, FRSC

Chairman, Governing Body – Bangladesh Dental College
Professor, Department of Pharmaceutical Chemistry, Faculty of Pharmacy, University of Dhaka

Professor Dr. Md. Abdur Rashid is a distinguished academic and researcher in the field of Pharmaceutical Chemistry. He earned his Ph.D. from the University of Strathclyde, United Kingdom, following his M.Pharm. (Thesis) and B.Pharm. (Hons.) degrees from the University of Dhaka.

Throughout his career, he has held several key leadership positions at the University of Dhaka, including serving as the Dean of the Faculty of Pharmacy and Chairman of the Department of Pharmaceutical Chemistry.

His research primarily focuses on natural product chemistry, particularly the isolation and structural characterization of bioactive compounds derived from medicinal plants, microorganisms, and marine sources. He has made significant contributions to scientific literature, supervised numerous postgraduate researchers, and continues to advance pharmaceutical research in Bangladesh.

Professor Rashid is a Fellow of the Bangladesh Academy of Sciences (FAS) and the Royal Society of Chemistry (FRSC), UK.

As Chairman of the Governing Body of Bangladesh Dental College, he provides strategic academic leadership and guidance. His vision emphasizes academic excellence, research-driven learning, and the cultivation of skilled, compassionate healthcare professionals.

Since its establishment in 1996 under the Bangladesh Medical Studies and Research Institute (BMSRI), Bangladesh Dental College has consistently set high standards in dental education. Our graduates have gone on to excel in various fields, contributing to the advancement of oral healthcare both at home and abroad.

At Bangladesh Dental College, we believe in nurturing an environment that fosters learning, critical thinking, and professional growth. Our modern facilities, dedicated faculty, and vibrant student body work together to create a dynamic academic atmosphere where aspirations can flourish.
